HCL BPO Plans to Increase Growth Through Strategic Acquisition

HCL BPO, the BPO division of Indian IT services provider HCL Technologies, is planning acquisitions (target companies undisclosed) to shift focus from voice-based services to transaction-based services. The move will also assist the company in increasing revenues without increasing headcount. The company is expected to decrease dependence on voice-based services from the current 70 percent to about 50 percent over the next few years. The potential acquisitions are expected to contribute about 55 percent to the company’s growth, while the remaining will be derived from organic growth.

Ranjit Narasimhan, the President and CEO at HCL BPO, stated that the acquisition decision is a company strategy for increasing global foothold as well as building resistance against currency fluctuations.

In 2008, HCL entered into agreements to acquire US-based Control Point Solutions and UK-based Liberata Financial Services. Both the acquired companies offer transaction-based outsourcing services.
